Against the background of media reports alleging that there is an ongoing spill in the organization’s Berth Offshore Platform(BOP) impacting some Communities in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, in the organization’s Western Operations area, the Management of the multinational company, Chevron Nigeria Limited, has come up to say, the allegation is false.
In a press statement signed by Olusoga Odusel, General Manager, Policy Government and Public Affairs of Chevron and made available for newsmen, the organization said, the company is committed to socio-economic development and empowerment of communities in its areas of operations.
According to the statement, the spillage rumour is brought about by faceless and mischief makers- individuals or group of persons with a calculated attempt to drag the good image of the organization which it has earned over the years to the mud. Part of the statement reads:”Chevron Nigeria Limited refutes spill allegation, reiterates commitment to environmental protection,..”
The Management of Chevron Nigeria, which is the operator of the Joint Venture between Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting people and the environment and conducting its operations reliably and efficiently in compliance with regulatory requirements and consideration for the environment.
