Labour Party Internal Reconciliation Committee has said, it is poised to foster a united and inclusive party environment which would guarantee all members to be heard, valued and empowered to contribute meaningfully to the new Nigeria project. The Committee also lauded Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed and Vice Presidential candidate of Labour Party in the 2023 general elections for his progressive move to unite the Party’s Stakeholders.
In a statement signed by Dr. Gometi O. Crested, the Chairman of the Committee and Chief Elijah Eborah, the Publicity Secretary respectively and made available to newsmen said it is optimistic that a win-win strategy that prioritizes internal healing would send a good message of maturity and leadership to Nigerians who are in and outside the party.
According to Committee, the continued reliance on external actors or legal mechanisms would lead more to mistrust among members thereby prolonging instability just as it would undermine the ability to plan effectively ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Committee said, members and supporters across the country are increasingly anxious and disillusioned saying that, they all know that missteps may have been made by all sides. Part of the statement reads:”We strongly believe that only through honest and constructive internal dialogue can heal, rebuild trust, and forge a truly united front. We remain convinced that an internal reconciliation approach represents the most viable and sustainable path to resolving the current dispute”.
According to the Committee, the party is greatly inspired by Datti’s unwavering commitment to the ideals of unity and peace among the party stakeholders and therefore lauded Datti’s leadership and determination to champion internal reconciliation in this regard. While warning against the spread of rumours by some persons of Datti’s intention to feature as the 2027 presidential election, the Committee appealed to all Stakeholders to ensure that differences are settled just as it charged members to recommit themselves to the ideals that would bring about the unity of the people in all ramifications.
