It is no news that Chevron Nigeria Limited, the operator of the joint venture between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited(CNL-NNPCL/CNL JV-C), for many years of its operation in Nigeria, has impacted positively on the lives of Nigerians in general and Deltans in particular. While one is not here to mention the various communities in Delta State especially that have benefited from the various projects and empowerment of the organisation, it is important to note that many communities have got a share of projects. This commitment of oil and gas industry has led to socio-economical development of the various communities in the state.
The Management of the organisation has re-emphasised its commitment to build a stronger partnership with the Delta State government for speedy growth and development of the various communities in the Delta State. The position of the oil and gas organisation was made known by the Chairman and Managing Director of the organization, Jim Swartz on Tuesday 11,2025 when he led a CNL’s team to visit the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Francis Orohwedor Sheriff Oborevwori at Government House Asaba, Delta State.
In the visitation, the Chairman and Managing Director, Jim Swartz was not alone but he was accompanied by the Director, NNPCL/CNL Joint Venture, Segun Kuteyi, General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs (PGPA), Olusoga Oduselu, Area Manager PGPA Field Operations, Momodu Rilwanu and Senior Government Affairs Advisor, Abimbola Olujide.
According to the press statement by the General Manager, Policy, Government and Public Affairs, Olusoga Oduselu, Jim commended already existing cordial relationship between CNL and the government and people of Delta State adding that, CNL has significant footprints in Delta State with its operational hub in Escravos and an administrative/logistics support base in Warri.
The Chairman and Managing Director of the organization said CNL is proud of its proven track records of consistently honouring its tax obligations to Delta State saying that, the state government has continued to acknowledge and applaud CNL’s performance as the largest taxpayer in the State. His words:”This is in addition to demonstrating unwavering commitment to the economic development of Delta State through various empowerment, employment, and developmental activities across the state”.

According to CNL’s MD, some of the social investments that organisation has embarked upon in Delta State through its legacy Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMoU) and other corporate responsibility programmes include the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND).
Jim who also highlighted areas of further collaboration with Delta State government for the company’s business growth and continuity, emphasised CNL’s strides in enhancing local content development and capacity building for community contractors through its various projects in the Niger Delta region particularly in Delta State. His words:”Chevron has operated in Nigeria for over six decades and continues to make significant contributions to the socio-economic development of Nigeria”.
In his response,Governor Oborevwori expressed happiness over State government’s partnership with CNL over the years just as he assured the organisation of government’s cordial relationship between the communities and the organisation.
