The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel has rejoiced with Comrade Michael Ikeogwu on his appointment as Senior Special Assistant on Media to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State. In a press statement signed by the Chapel Chairman and Secretary, Mr. Victor Okpomor and Mr Edeki Igafe respectively, the Union said the news of the appointment did not come by surprised as he deserved it.
The body urged Comrade Ikeogwu to put his wealth of experience he got over the years in the Journalism profession and the various leadership positions in NUJ to bear and contribute his quotas to the overall development of the state. Part of the statement reads: “Sir, the news of your appointment did not come to us a surprise. Indeed, you deserve it. We urged you to deploy your wealth of experience garnered in the pen profession as well as in your various leadership positions in the NUJ to bear and contribute your quotas to the overall development of Delta State”.
While the Union assured him of maximum support and co-operation in the discharge of his responsibilities in the new office, It expressed gratitude to Almighty God for the privilege to serve in this capacity and pray God to grant him the strength and wisdom to discharge his duties effectively. The Union wished him more elevation just as it expressed gratitude to the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for appointment of Comrade Michael Ikeogwu for the exalted position. The Union therefore promised the state government maximum co-operation in the state.
Part of the statement reads:”While wishing you more elevations, we thanked our amiable State Governor, Rt. Hon.Sheriff Oborevwori for appointing one of us into the exalted position. Going forward, we assure the State Government of our maximum support and co-operation. Once again, congratulations!”
