All is now set for the 50 years Anniversary of Aladja Grammar School Old Students Association’s celebration. Addressing members of Nigeria Union of Journalists,Warri Correspondents’ Chapel on Wednesday, the President, Aladja Grammar School Old Students Association, Mr Andrew Okrakeme said the programme is billed to commence from the 27th to 29th September, this year and is meant to honour five decades of academic excellence based on character building, and commitment engagement at the institution.
According to him, for the past fifty years, the school has served as a beacon of learning, shaped lives of many students and has made significant contributions to the society. He said, the Golden Jubilee is not just about the celebration of the past years but reaffirming the institution’s commitment to the values that have sustained it just the institution looked forward to failure filled and continue to bring about innovation of progress to the area.
His words:”This is a time of reflection, appreciation and anticipation as we honour five decades of academic excellence, character building and community’s engagement at Aladja Grammar School”
According to Mr. Okrakeme, the institution has achieved a lot since it was established in 1974 adding that, it was the first and is the leading secondary school in Udu Local Government Area. He said among other things, the institution has produced graduates who have excelled in various fields such as medicine, engineering, law, arts and public service. He buttressed the fact that the institution has also come top in national and international academic competitions, character development, extra curricular activities among which is sports. He said, the Alumni network which includes some of the brightest brains in the country and beyond can testify to this fact.
According to the President, the programme which its planning Committee is chaired by Hon. Chief Dr. Henry Sakpra would begin in the first day with Alumni Gala Night where they would host grand reunion of esteemed Alumni which would afford them the opportunity to reconnect and share their success stories, showcase the impact of the institution on the lives of the people.
On the second day, according to the President, they would host lecture of renowned Guest Speakers and thought leaders who would discuss the future of education and how schools like theirs can continue to evolve in this 21st century.
He said on the third day, there would be also 50 years Anniversary Commemorative Publication on the history, key milestones, success stories and transformation under the period under review while on the fourth day, awards would be given to some old students who have projected the name of the institution in their various ways. While the President expressed gratitude to all who have contributed in one way or the other for the growth of the institution, he invited all and Sundry to grace the occasion with them.
