As the backdrop of the suffering Nigerians, especially teeming graduates are going through as a result of lack job and escalating prices of goods in the country, the General Overseer, Praise God Revival Ministry, Enerhen, Effurun, Delta State, Bishop Ajokpaoghene Okijenu, has given the Federal Government six months within which to revive the moribund Delta sea ports or else, in the next six months, Niger Delta will breakaway and control its resources.
The Cleric made this known during peaceful protest by his Ministry at the entrance of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA),Warri in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State. His words:”President Tinubu should come and revive our seaports in the next six months otherwise, we in Niger Delta will breakaway and control our resources”. Speaking on #endbàdgovernance protest by some individuals in the country, he said, that the cost of food has continued to soar above the budget of the common citizen and called on the Government to review the prices of food items.
Bishop Okijenu said that President Bola Tinubu had earlier given his words during 2023 electioneering campaign, among other things, to revive the Delta Ports within three months of his emergence as President adding that, one year has passed without the President fulfilling his promises in this regard, the action, which has put Nigerians in total suffering .According to him, if the sea ports are made functional, it would create more jobs for the teeming graduates saying, by implications create room for more revenue for the country.
Bishop Okijenu also called on the Federal Government to reactivate the moribund refineries just as he asked him to adhere to the directives to make crude oil available for the Dangote Refinery to function optimally. He also called for the downward review of the prices of petroleum products to between N200 and N300 to ensure it is affordable by common man in Nigeria.
His words:”Tinubu should do the needful and reduce the prices of premium motor spirit also known as petrol, diesel and kerosene and make them readily available for the populace. We want the reversal of the fuel subsidy removal and ensure all the Government refineries are operational while Dangote Refinery is supplied with adequate crude oil,” he said.
On the hunger protest, the Bishop advised the youths to be law abiding and conduct themselves peacefully while it lasted. The Cleric also called on the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori to prevail on the President to urgently dredge the Warri River to enable the sea port function optimally.
