Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori said his administration would continue to deliver on his electioneering promises made to Deltans when he was sworn in on May 29 this year.
Governor Oborevwori stated this when he performed the ground- breaking ceremony for the construction of road expansion and improvement works between Effurun and DSC Round- about, PTI Junction flyover and Enerhen Junction/Marine Gate flyover today Monday at DSC Roundabout, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State.
He said the projects commencing for the day underscored his administration’s commitment and determination to improve on roads and infrastructure as contained in MORE Agenda of this administration adding that, the government shall continue to aggressively embark on projects across the three Senatorial Districts in the state as that would drive developments in other sectors of the economy.
According to him, the projects are the study, design and construction of road expansion and improvement works on section of DSC/NPA Expressway from Effurun round about, to DSC Roundabout on the Effurun/Patani (East/West) highway including the construction of 3/4; cloverleaf interchange at the existing Effurun Flyover Bridge as well as two pedestrians bridges in Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area, design and construction of flyover bridge at PTI Junction along the Effurun/Patani (East/West) Highway among others. He said the four projects are awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria Limited adding when completed, would ease travelers’ movement through and within Warri/Effurun metropolis.
His words:” The projects are aimed at solving the gridlock experienced in Effurun Round about through PTI Road to DSC Roundabout, Effurun/Patani East West Road. They would ease vehicular movements at a stretch from Enerhen Junction/Effurun to Marine Gate in Warri /Uvwie and Warri South Local Government Areas.”
Governor Oborevwori said apart from the projects easing traffic congestion to alleviate the hardship faced by commuters, they would also provide job opportunities for Deltans especially Engineers, artisans, vendors, suppliers, crane operators and many more in construction value chains. Governor Oborevwori who expressed joy over the projects said the host communities should co-operate with contracting firm and the state government for speedy completion of the projects .
His words:” It is important to acknowledge that these roads are strategic and very busy roads. We want to assure you, you will get your money as at when due. The immediate communities should join hands to ensure speedy completion of these projects”.
Others who expressed joy over the projects in their various speeches include Secretary to Delta State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, Commissioner for Works( Highways and Urban Roads,) Comrade Izeze Rume Yakubu Reuben, the Uvwie Local Government Area Chairman, Hon. Ramson Onoyake, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Hon.Michael Tidi PhD, among others.
