He said, he is not a normal politician who promises and fails as many of them (politicians) are not accountable to the electorate saying, he is ready to be accountable to the electorate who would elect him. He said, many of the normal politicians are not accountable to the people but for “godfathers” who put them in the office adding, this has led to underdevelopment of the area for many years now.
According to him, he did not borrow money for the campaign neither he has godfather whom he has to settle upon his resumption of office, which many politicians do, hence, they do not develop the area.
He said:”I don’t have a godfather to settle neither I borrowed money which I will pay back when I assume office that will deter my performance in the constituency. So, I will begin work immediately I get to the office”.
Commodore Nesiama(rtd) said, the people should not be deceived by the bag of money which the normal politicians would give to them as such is given to blindfold their eyes and deafen their ears in order that they(politicians) are not accountable to them(electorate) if they do not perform.
He said:” The normal politicians have no agenda for you, they use money to blindfold your eyes and deafen your ears and when you vote them in, they have nothing to give to you again because, they have already paid you. So, if they did not carry out projects in your area, you can not question them because they have already paid you during the elections ”.
Commodore Nesiama(rtd) who said he maternally relates to Ijaw as he hails from Kunukuma in Gbaramatu Kingdom said, the job of legislation in the National Assembly is a critical one, saying, it needs people like him who is vocal and experienced as he would be able to initiate motions which translate into bills and laws to attract the needed growth and development to the area.
According to him, he was neither after money nor fame as he has got them but to train and empower the youths to be able them fend for themselves, the job he has been doing since he retired from service over seven years ago.
The Commodore of Hope said, with him, many of the youths have been taken out of the streets and work in his Security Organization and promised to do more if given the mandate. According to him, he would not stay in office for too long saying, immediately he discovers any youth whom he can handover to, he would do.
He said:” I retired from the military voluntarily; I shall do the same in politics. Immediately, I see a capable hand especially among the youths, I would hand-over to him and leave as well”.
Commodore Nesiama (rtd) said, he is called by God to represent the people in the Senate and change the assumptions or beliefs that politics is a dirty game, that without money, one can not go into politics, that for one to win, one must be in a big political party, among others, saying, the these assumptions which made many good people leave politics for mediocre hence, the growth and development of the place is retarded over the years.
