Report reaching Bailout Magazine is that Delta State Police Command have arrested one suspected kidnapper, neutralize two just as they rescued the victim and recovered two –locally-made guns in Delta Communities. In a statement signed by the Delta State Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe said on the 18th January 2023, at about 1800hrs, the dragon patrol teams 19 and 20 were on stop and search along Ughelli/Patani Expressway by Quest FM. The statement said, while there, they were informed that the vehicle of man earlier kidnapped in the day was seen at Ohoro Community saying, the Police quickly mobilized to the area to rescue victim in a view to arresting the suspects.
The statement said, the Police together with active support from the members of the community, were able to trail the suspects to Patani Road and that, when the hoodlums saw that the police were closing on them, drove recklessly and involved in an accident. The statement added that, the Police quickly intercepted the car in their attempt to flee the scene and arrested one of the suspects called Lucky Owofasa “m” aged 28 years of Ewu Community in Ughelli North LGA while others escaped. The statement said items recovered from the suspect are a cut-to-size-locally-made gun and three (03) live cartridges. The statement added that the victim who was locked in the boot of the car was rescued unhurt saying; he has been reunited with his family. Meanwhile, efforts are on to arrest the fleeing members of the gang.
Part of the statement reads:”…The policemen, with active support of members of the community, trailed them to Patani Road, where the hoodlums, on noticing that the police were closing in on them, drove recklessly and got involved in an accident. The police quickly intercepted the car while trying to flee the scene, arrested one of the suspect named Lucky Owofasa ‘m’ aged 28yrs of Ewu Community, Ughelli North LGA and a cut-to-size locally made gun, three (03) live cartridges were recovered from him while others escaped. The victim who was locked in the boot of the car was rescued unhurt and reunited with his family. Manhunt for the other fleeing members of the gang is ongoing”.
In a related development, on the 16th January, 2023, at about 1700hrs the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) Ovwian, Aladja Police Station, CSP Aliyu Shaba got a distress call that a male corpse was found at the expressway close to Ujewu Junction in Udu LGA. Based on this report, the DPO quickly detailed detectives to the scene and the corpse was identified as one Efe Peter “m” 26 years old, a native of Egiegi Community. He was said to have been shot by some armed robbers and took away his tricycle. The statement said the corpse was evacuated and taken to the mortuary. In the same day, a good spirited individual reported at the station that the deceased was his tricycle rider and that the tricycle has a tracking device installed on it. The statement said, it was this clue that made the operatives to swing into action by trailing and located the tricycle to Warri/Sapele Road by Mercy City Church .
The statement said immediately the robbers with the tricycle sighted the Police, opened fire in a bid to escape and the Police responded accordingly. In the ensuing gun battle, one of the suspects was neutralized while other suspect who sustained serious gunshot injury was arrested. On interrogation, he confessed to the murder of the deceased saying, that other members of his gang are one Kparobo “m”,Smally Macaiver “m” and Progress “m” and that all are residing in Ekpan. Items recovered are one cut-to-size locally-made-single-barrel gun, one cartridge and two expended cartridges. When the injured suspect was taken the hospital,he died while receiving treatment. Meanwhile, efforts are on to arrest the fleeing members of the gang.

In the ensuing gun duel, one of the suspects was neutralized, while the other suspect who sustained a serious gunshot injury was arrested. He confessed to the murder of the deceased and revealed that his other gang members were one Kparobo ‘m’, Smally Macaiver ‘m’ and Progress ‘m’ all residing in Ekpan. One cut to size locally made single barrel gun, one cartridge, and two expended cartridges were recovered while the injured suspect was taken to the hospital where he later died while receiving treatment…”
