The Principals of Hussey College, Mrs Justina Wategire; Delta Model College, Mrs Ekpoko .O. and that of Uwangue College (Outgoing) Sir(Chief) Oniovosa Alex, all in Warri in Warri South Local Government Area said, they are poised to complement the state’s government efforts to ensure that the standard of education is raised in the state by ensuring that effective teaching and learning take place in their various schools.
The Principals stated this in separate interviews with news men on schools’ resumption across the state on Monday. They said, the government has done a lot in the provision of education infrastructural facilities adding, what is left is for them to put in their best to manage their various schools, to see that the students learn effectively.
On the turn up of teachers and students on the first day of schools’ resumption for second term in the 2022/2023 academic session, they said, it is quite encouraging just as they said, the teachers have started teaching and students are learning.
Speaking specifically, Mrs. Justina Wategire of Hussey College said, the students expect more from the school management and teachers in this term as they are prepared to learn.
According to her, the school management has introduced time-book for students this term to encourage punctuality and this is tagged with prizes adding, before the school realised it, more than expected students have turned up. She said: ‘Students are ready to learn and have shown it by their punctuality this term”.
On her part, the Principal of Delta Model College, Ekpoko O. said although, everything is going on smoothly adding that, it would be a thing of pleasure if the state government can redesign and up-grade the school buildings to reflect the name it bears.

She said:’ Well, we don’t have any challenge but we would be happy if the state government can change the structure of the school from old College of Education to Model College as it is called right now”.
On his part, the outgoing Principal of Uwangue College, Sir (Chief’) Oniovosa Alex said although he is on his way out due to his retirement, teachers and students have resumed fully and academic work has commenced. According to him, many of the graduates of the school are doing well in their respective fields after graduation adding, he is optimistic the school will keep up with this standard set.
He said: ‘ Although l am going away due to my retirement, the students and teachers encouraged me. They turned up massively and the teachers have started teaching and l hope this trend will continue because, most of our graduates here are doing well in their chosen careers’.
They all charged parents to encourage teachers and the government by providing books, sandals, socks, and other learning materials to their children/wards to complement government and teachers’ efforts in this regard just as they admonished the students to take their studies seriously at all times.
