As 2027 General elections draw near, a Non-governmental organization known as Concerned Delta Central Indigenes for Good Governance has sued for unity among the Ethiope East and Ethiope West Local Government Areas to present a credible candidate to represent the people in Delta Central to put smiles on the people’s faces.
The body made this known at its meeting that was held in Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) on Thursday, August 14, 2025.Speaking on behalf of the group, Joseph Okeoghene Ubrurhe said there should be equitable Senatorial representation across Delta Central. According to Ubrurhe, since the advent of democracy in Nigeria in 1999, Ughelli South, Ughelli North, and Udu Federal Constituency has enjoyed some levels of fair representations like that of Okpe, Sapele, and Uvwie adding, Ethiope East and Ethiope West Federal Constituency equally deserves the same opportunity to serve in this direction.
Ubrurhe, who is the immediate past Secretary of Ughelli South Local Government Area called on Ethiope East and Ethiope West to come together and present a single candidate best suited for the senatorial seat. His words:” Every region has a unique individual capable of delivering on this mandate and Ethiope East and West cannot be left out — unless they are saying they don’t have such a candidate”.
According to Ubrurhe, it would be good to narrow the choice of the candidate is for Ethiope East in the Delta Central in the Senate in 2027 in the interest of fairness, equity and justice adding that, by 2027, Urhobo people will rally behind the most competent candidate in the region, irrespective of political party affiliations. He therefore called for oneness and unity among the people of Ethiope East and West in this regard.
