A count down to the this year’s general elections, Okurode-Urhobo and Ogunu Communities in Warri South Local Government Areas, Delta State have thrown their weight behind Commodore Omatseye Nesiama’s (rtd) the candidate for Delta South Senatorial District on the platform of New Nigerian Peoples Party saying, politics is not made for old breed politicians but young politicians like Nesiama for the position.
The duo Communities made the declaration during a town hall meeting with Commodore Omatseye Nesiama(rtd) on over the weekend.
Speaking on behalf of the communities, the Acting Secretary of Ogunu Traditional Council of Chiefs, Chief Kpesu Julius Okiemute said, it is time for the old men to go back to their villages and take care of their grandchildren and leave politics for young people. Chief Okiemute who lamented the absence of better hospital in their land said, with this situation on ground, the old politicians always travel abroad with the tax payers’ money to seek their medical treatment leaving those who elected them to die in abject poverty and pains.
According to him, it is time Ogunu people in particular and the Delta South Senatorial District in general to eschew money politics and vote young people like Commodore Omatseye Nesiama(rtd) for them to have real dividends of democracy.
He said:“I am not telling you not to take money. Take money and vote your conscience on that day of election. We are waiting for the big parties. They’ll disgrace themselves.”
Chief Okiemute who assured Commodore Nesiama of their supports and votes in the forthcoming election said:”Our men are on ground to monitor Ward 3 so that, we can win. Those money bags, we are ready to eat their money”.
He noted that since 1999, there has been only one party in the area yet no developments have been attracted to their land adding that, Ogunu town hall was built with the efforts of their own people.
Earlier, Commodore Omatseye Nesiama (rtd) sought the prayers, supports and votes of the people of Okurode-Urhobo and Ogunu Communities in the forthcoming elections.
In a related development, the Delta South Senatorial District Candidate on the platform of New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), Commodore Omatseye Nesiama(rtd) has charged the people of Delta South Senatorial District not to be intimidated but come out en-masse to cast their votes.
Commodore Nesiama(rtd) gave the charge during a town hall meeting with electorate in Okumagba Ward 2 in Warri, in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State. According to him, no security personnel will intimidate any legible voters because they know that it is their own that is contesting adding that, their votes would surely count.
Commodore Nesiama (rtd) who is fondly referred to as Commodore of Hope who used pidgin language said, many people have acted the foolish by voting for the wrong politicians in the past, saying, this time around, it is good to vote wisely by voting for the person who can give them the dividends of democracy.
According to him, for the past twenty four (24) years, some persons have been in power yet , they did not improve on the quality of life of the people adding that, if the electorate fail to change the status quo by voting for the right persons who can bring the dividends of democracy to them, the next generation will not forgive them.
